Steel verifications

Unique CBFEM method. Thoroughly tested.

CBFEM breaks the limits of configuration

IDEA StatiCa connection calculations are based on the Component-based Finite Element Method (CBFEM). This is a method for the structural design of steel connections and joints. IDEA StatiCa implemented CBFEM to its calculation solver to enable unparalleled design and code-check possibilities to all structural engineers

CBFEM for safe connection design

CBFEM is a synergy of the standard approach to connection design (component method) and finite elements. This allows engineers using IDEA StatiCa to code-check steel connections of immense variety. And stay on the safe side defined by AISC, Eurocode and other national standards.

We compared IDEA StatiCa results with standard connections from design guides. Same results.

We have created FEA models of complex connections in NASTRAN and compared them. Same results.

Numerous validation tests

Two university teams spent over 3 years running numerous laboratory tests. Results aligned with the code requirements. CBFEM overcomes the limit of calculation possibilities in connection design while keeping engineers on the safe side.

Check for yourself

IDEA StatiCa and the CBFEM method inside is safe, accurate, and reliable. Verifications, design assumptions, and articles are published and available to the engineering community. We encourage you to go through all our validation and verification documentation, especially the book by professor Frantisek Wald - Benchmark cases for advanced design of structural steel connections.
