It is not only bridge engineers who encounter prestressed concrete and take advantage of its benefits when crossing large spans, deep valleys, or rivers. But civil engineers are also increasingly experiencing the design of airy, open spaces with a minimum number of columns.
Air handling and building services, in general, require penetrations in beams, and engineers have no choice but to deal with them. But how to deal with beams that have multiple openings in them? The strut and tie are general and allow a consistent solution for a detail, member, or the whole structure. When creating a strut and tie model, an iterative and optimization process is required for each load combination, increasing the time needed to solve.
Thanks to the innovative and more advanced Compatible Stress Field Method (CSFM) and the addition of prestressing, structural engineers can design and code-check prestressed concrete structures, including discontinuity areas such as openings, haunches, dapped ends, or anchoring areas.
In this webinar, you will learn how to create the geometry of the beam and prestressed pre-tensioned tendons and enter the load and reinforcement into the shaft. We will show you how to handle the construction stages as same as how to read the results correctly and generate a final report.
