How to define connections made with pins

Connection pins are not yet supported model type in IDEA StatiCa.  Also, the code-checks covering pins are not implemented.

As a workaround, a custom bolt model type as a fake pin can be used in the connection model. A bolt can be edited in terms of material and geometry to form a pin like connector. IDEA StatiCa then analyzes the joint model using the CBFEM calculation and code-checks all parts of connections except the faked pins. Pins can then be code-checked correctly aside, using the forces calculated in IDEA Statica (in the tab Results, read the values in the sheet for Bolts).

Some design codes, such as Eurocode, allow designing and code-checking a pin connection as a bolt connection if the given criteria are fulfilled.
